Marketing Plan Skylarknet a Wireless Essay Example for Free

Marketing Plan Skylarknet a Wireless EssayWireless appointment networking is the latest tech in this field. network pro Wireless networks provide unprecedented freedom and mobility for a growing number of laptop and PDA users who no longer need wires to stay connected with their workplace and the Internet. Ironically, the precise devices that provide wireless service to these clients need lots of wiring themselves to connect to private networks and the Internet. This wiring is high-priced to install and change, and deployment must be carefully planned and eond to minimize disruption to normal business sector operations. Permits or permissions may be required, and then there are the laborious tasks of pulling, terminating and examination the copper wiring or fiber optic cabling. With all the work involved, it should not be surprising that wiring can be the most expensive break out of a wireless network Indeed, the many obstacles associated with wiring are now preventing or delaying the deployment of wireless applications that could deliver a real competitive receipts or a high return on investmentor both. This marketing plan provides an overview of implementing Wireless cyberspace Network (WMN) service for the first time in the suburban areas ofBangladesh. Wireless Mesh Network is an exciting refreshing technology which has tremendous authorization especially for a developing country same(p) Bangladesh. Quite a few African countries are already benefiting from this novel technology. Supported by the growing buying power, a number of desktop and laptop users in the suburban areas of Bangladesh are badly in need of high quality cyberspace service. In the realness of internet the best suitable choice stands for the suburban areas is the wireless technology. We plan to act as a service and equipment provider for the local ISP dealers and some institutional market such as university campus, NGO, hospitals and breast feeding home etc. As we are the p ioneer of this new technology we conducted an insightful abridgment of the competitors position and their offerings. The marketing plan starts with the situational analysis of the current market. External and internal factor analysis (SWOT analysis) provides a clear picture of current scenario. Grameen Phone, Qubee, Banglalion, rapid climbUltra are our main competitors. But the cost of their offering is overmuch higher than ours. Because there lies a higher establishment cost. Eliminating wires dramatically reduces the implementation cost, and substantially simplifies on-going operations. Without wires, the network becomes far more adaptable and flexible. Thats why we nidus on the cost effectiveness and performance of the WMN service. We identify our fellowship as a market challenger and direct some strategies suitable for the challengers. Some fly projects are planned to create the awareness among target customers.Based on these projects success further promotional and pricin g strategies are set. In the later part of the report the feasibility of this marketing plan is justified by the financial analysis. Expense and sales are forecasted for the next three years followed by a break-even analysis. Overall monitoring and contingency plan (in the circumstance of failure) completes the total planning for our company. Introduction In this world of modern technology, most people prefer not to connect computers with Ethernet cables because excessive cables scattered throughout their office or home is unsightly. One can choose to install a wireless network to repeal excessive cabling. For a wireless network, there is no need to use Ethernet cables to connect your computers to the DSL or router. Moreover, WLANs are available anywhere in the world at an affordable cost. In the suburban and rural areas Wireless tech suits best. Wireless function networking is the newest tech in wireless field. Our object lens is to identify the potential suburban customers of B angladesh who can afford a cost-effective internet service. Origin of the StudyThis report has been prepared a requirement to fulfill the course. This report evaluates the business opportunity of latest wireless mesh network technology in the suburban areas of Bangladesh from service provider point of view. Objective of the Study The primary objective of this report is to fulfill the course requirement of Marketing Management. The secondary objective is to describe a detail marketing plan for a new technology. Limitation of the Study There is no authentic statistics about the potential number of internet users in the suburban areas of Bangladesh. As this is a new technology, the costs of the equipments vary depending on the different manufacturers. We are making a new entry, so the estimation of potential market is establish on the secondary selective information of other existing competitors rather than the primary data. Sales and expense is forecasted on the discretion of our part that may vary widely in real case implementation. Unavailability of previous years financial report necessitates greater recourse to mere guessing in some cases. Situational Analysis What is WMN (Wireless Mesh Network)?Mesh networks represent an emerging wireless networking technology that promises wider coverage than traditional wireless LANs and lower deployment and operation costs than 3G cellular networks. For these reasons, network operators and service providers consider mesh networking to be a serious candidate to solve the so called last mile problem. Some network operators worldwide have already started to deploy mesh based access networks offering nearly ubiquitous and inexpensive wireless Internet connections to their customers. Examples are Ozones mesh network in Paris (www. zone. net/en/) and The Cloud in the City of London (www. thecloud. net). The real business potential lies in operator based mesh networks. By their systematic design, deployment, and maintenance, ope rator based mesh networks provide higher levels of Quality-of-Service (QoS), meaning larger coverage, higher speed, and more reliable operation. In addition, it can be argued that mesh network operators in a given geographical area will cooperate in order to further optimize their costs and increase the QoS provided by their networks. The form of the cooperation can flow from traditional roaming agreements to joint provision of specific services. Figure 1 Wireless Mesh Network Strategic planning is important because in well-run companies the goal from the very top of the organization down to where one is working should form a more-or-less unbroken chain (or hierarchy) of goals. At the top of the company the president and his or her staff set strategic goals. These goals should flow from top and make sense in terms of the goals at the next level up. whence the vice presidents subordinates set their own goals, and so on down the line.In this way, management creates a hierarchy or cha in of departmental goals, from the top down the lowest-ranked managers, and even employees. Then , if everyone does his or her job-if each salesperson sells his her quota, and the sales manager hires enough good salespeople, and the HR manager creates the right incentive plan, and the purchasing head buys and CEO should overly accomplish the overall, company-wide strategic goals. One could therefore say with great certainty that without a clear plan at the top, no one in the company would have the foggiest notion of what to do.Wireless Internet Market in Bangladesh Wireless Internet Service was first introduced to Bangladesh in public by cell call giant Grameen Phone. Then other GSM mobile phone operators like Banglalink, Aktel and Warid follow suit. Citycell, the only CDMA based mobile phone operator in Bangladesh introduced the Zoom internet service, which was a little different from the other mobile phone operators in that consumers could connect to internet by using a USB mod em included in the Zoom package. Later on Grameen Phone also introduced a package where they include an USB modem.

A Teacher’s Involvement on Education Reform Essay Example for Free

A Teachers Involvement on educational activity meliorate EssayStudent achievement is constantly c suspension. Todays students ar being prepared to face the real world that requires them to let exceeding abilities and knowledge. On the global economic aspect of today, students are asked to understand the fundamentals and at the same cartridge holder be able to think critically. They must analyze and pee-pee inferences. It is the teachers task to develop these acquirements in the students. They must prepare them for any changes in the assessment of the cultivate, especially when this approach is of the large scale and high-s command level. Education in the United States has been re make countless times all for various reasons. The changes in the knowledge and skills that are aimed for success go give-up the ghost in hand with the understanding of how students learn. The relationship between the instruction given in schools and the assessment of the students by means of e xams change the learning goals that are set for them and their schools. in that respectfore, the indigence for education reform. 1 Before, society can get by with the basic reading and arithmetic skills. This was during the industrial age. However, we are now in an information age. Individuals are required to have access to the interpretation and analysis of the information that they use in collection to come up with decisions.Studies show that the skills and competencies mentioned in the previous sentence are the requirements to accompany in the workplace. 2 To adapt to these changes, the content standards of education skills, knowledge and behavior of the students must be achieved at a higher level. This is developed at the depicted object, as well as the state areas of science, mathematics, history and geography. In this process, student assessment is the steering and the center of the efforts on matters concerning educational improvements. The insurance policymakers inte nd to change the assessment that allow for allow teachers and schools to have different approaches.Assessment reform is not an excuse for a brand-new regime by teachers. This is targeted to the students with the help of the knowledge efforts of the teachers. These include plan reform, improving instruction and getting new instructional materials. A number of policymakers and educators believe that the assessment of the students reflect the lessons that they were taught. Its true that the assessment influences the format of instruction. adverse to the understanding of todays students on how they learn their lessons, the assessments are particularly traditional. Most exams still follow the multiple-choice and the true-false format. These test facts determine the skill in an isolated approach. It seldom requires the students to apply what they really know, making it hard to determine what they are capable of doing in real life situations. The standardized tests do not match the con tent standards. Relying too much on these kinds of assessment often result to an instruction that only focuses on the basic knowledge and skills. It does not encourage the institution to reform the instruction give to the students. Engaged learning will prepare the students better for the 21st century. That being said, it only makes sense that the tests the students take encourage aggressive learning. 3 The notion that learning comes about by the accretion of little bits is outmoded learning theory. Current personates of learning based on cognitive psychology contend that learners gain understanding when they construct their own cognitive maps of the interconnections among concepts and facts. Thus, real learning cannot be spoon-fed, one skill at a time. 4 Educators, policymakers and parents are starting to realize that the basic learning abilities are no longer enough. They need the students to have the skills they learned in school and the abilities they need upon leaving school al l at the same time. enlightens are expected to assist students in developing these competencies which they will use in real and received situations. The establishments are expected to graduate students who have these abilities students who excel on both the standardized and the alternative assessments. During the last decade, the education community in the United States went through a proliferation of reform efforts that are standardized-driven.Its main objective is to increase the achievement level of the students. They command students from the United States achieve the same level of competitiveness with different industrialized nations. The education community also wants to restore the public confidence in the education. Once these are achieved, then it provides the standards-setting bodies the primary ways on how the classroom teachers can be involved in the reforming process. The federal government is a prominent player in the reforming efforts one educations. It goes all the way back in March 1994 when President Clinton signed the Goals 2000 Educate America Act.It was the legislation that created the framework which allowed states to adopt and construct the education reform strategies by incorporating the three Goals principles 1. ) rigorous academic standards. 2. ) alignment of curriculum, textbooks and teacher education and 3. ) clear incentives to encourage students to strive to meet high standards. Also, in 1987, the field Board for Professional Teaching Standards or the NBPTS was formed in order to articulate the standards of excellence to what teachers must know and should know.NBPTS has an assessment system that determines the eligibility of the educators for the National Board certification. At the same time, the Council of Chief State School Officers has established the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC) to produce the model standards for the initial teacher licensure. INTASC standards are based on NBPTS stan dards. In 1987, the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) started using the revised accreditation standards for teacher education institutions. This also reflects NBPTS standards. It calls for better performance, higher admissions and graduate standards. NCATE encourages the teachers to prepare the reforms on education at a content standard that has appeared from projects such as the NCTMs. There are three kinds of national standards which currently receive attention from the American government. The content standards focus on the curriculum, the performance standards concentrate on the student work and the assessment, and the school delivery standards which centers on the resources and support for the schools, teachers and students. The building figures from the consensus prominently show that the standards- setting stool of the schools and teachers has had de facto standards for the content areas that are mentioned in the Goals. These are affected by the textbook manufactures and the performance standards that are set by the testing companies. In contrast to this, the standards festering projects of recent years have tried to get a base of support for any academic improvement. The involvement of teacher in the professional standards development can be seen in various areas1.The teachers function as the standards. A lot of members of the NBPTS standards committees are accomplished and celebrated teachers. Classroom teachers are members of the NCATE board and the Standards charge serve as the team which evaluates the teacher preparation programs. The Standard Project is there to develop the assessment standards. It also serves as the instrument for a national system of voluntary student examination. It engages the teachers in developing the tests items and refining the content standards in order to come up with better scores from the students.2.Teachers are the subjects of the field that are new to test standards. Since they par ticipate in the NBPTS field test, the INTAST assessments are conducted by teachers. 3. Teachers serve as the translators of the content standards. They apply this in a tractable classroom setting. By working with the scholars, the teachers build the contend standards in a state curriculum framework. They come up with lesson plans which are the operations for the standards they intend to meet.4. Because they agreement units and have professional associations, teachers serve as the initiators of the standards-setting projects.Take this for example, the Standards for Teacher Competence in Educational Assessment of Students was developed by the American Federation of Teachers, the National Council on Measurement in Education and the National Education Association. 5. Teachers also serve as the critics of the national standards that set the efforts on education reform. The seven model standards that have been developed and supported by the Board of Education have circulated drafts of t he standards documents. It also solicits the comment from the teachers and the parents. It is very important that teachers are on the panels in order to oversee the projects. The promotion of students critical thinking skills, active engagement in learning and deeper understanding of the subject matter is teaching for understanding. The classroom teachers must be engaged in teaching and understanding the lessons that they teach to the students. The research and the experience are collaborated and are jointly reported. Teachers must also focus on the policy considerations, starting with the perspectives in the classroom and emphasizing on the need for the field-based research that are needed for the multiple contexts of teaching. However, the involvement of teachers also varies on the perception of the school leading. There are some teachers that perceive the costs of involvement in education reform outweigh the benefits. There are also some teachers who carry to not get involved be cause it means that this will influence other school policies. With this in mind, this proves that there are two kinds of decisions the managerial, which is made by the administrators and the technical, which concentrates on the goal. Most teachers prefer being involved in the process than coming up with technical decisions. 7 Then there are some teachers that beseech that education reform cannot be imposed on a uni later(prenominal)al approach. Teachers must endorse their new responsibilities and roles, as long as there is a time and enough resources to go about it. Schools depend on the cooperation, relation and interdependence of the staff members that plans such as these must be consistent with the norms that already exist. 8 Schools must also consider the current staff development. There are some models that do not help the teachers in handling the heterogeneous reforms that are currently being implemented. Dominant models work perfectly when the specific practices or skills ar e transferred. The current reforms need teachers to be intellectual. They must grapple the new ways in order to implement the principles and ideas in their daily work. The five steams of reform are challenges to the teachers. 9 Finally, there are the different studies of teachers when it comes to leadership roles. There are conditions that are particularly good prospects when it comes to leadership. By investing in roles that are dignified and not simply powerful, the organizational incentives needed for collaboration results to agreements which encourage and discern the interest of the administrators and the teachers. This is a good thing because its final result is that it complies with the policies which support the education reform. Drawing from four different studies of teachers in leadership roles, the pen examines the conditions for teacher productivity in schools.Little identifies five conditions as particularly likely to advance or erode the prospects for teacher leadersh ip define leadership tasks that are important, not trivial invest leadership roles with dignity, not simply power over others have organizational incentives for collaboration avoid agreements that protect the separate interests of teachers and administrators and have district policies that support teacher leadership, especially those on recruitment, selection, placement, and evaluation of principals. 10 Sometimes it is better to give movie examples.Over the years, there are countless movie releases that show teachers defying the schools rules in order to provide what is best for their students. In Dangerous Minds, Michelle Pfeiffer encourages her students to read poetry instead of hanging out in the street and ruining their lives by getting involved in drugs, sex and gangsters. In the Sister Act 2, Whoopi Goldberg helms a choir consisting of African American students from the ghettos. Like Pfeiffer in Dangerous Minds, this is the nuns distraction for the students to make something out of their lives. But a recent movie that depicts educational reform and teachers involvement best is the TV movie Walkout. It tells the story of the Mexican-American students in Los Angeles high schools in 1968. They staged a boycott in order to improve the quality of education for Chicanos. Actor-director Edward James Olmos (who plays Jennifer Lopez dad in Selena) appears and directs in the movie. Walkout was skillfully directed and presented a simple story told in a direct manner. There is a frank portrayal of the unacceptable educational standards in the schools that are attended by the Mexican-American students. In one scene, two Chicano students were slapped on their behinds because they spoke in Spanish. This was only one of the rules in American schools which Mexican-American activists wanted to reform. They want to speak in Spanish whenever they want to because Spanish is their language. For teachers who want a peg in participating in educational reforms, they can look at Sal Castro played by Michael Pena (Jennifer Lopez brother in Selena. ) He is a sanctified high school history teacher who is the instrument in stirring idealism in his students. He didnt want them to be violent activists. He encouraged reform but he reminded them that this can be done in a united and peaceful protest. The focal point of the story is Paula Crisostomo (Alexa Vega) who is an prodigious student. She risked her graduation in order to be part of the Lincoln High School walkout. Walkout captures the passion of Paula and her classmates. The parents strongly resisted at the earlier part of the film, but later on they slowly understood the reason behind the activism of their children. The entire cast, played by young performers, is convincing. It is true that Walkout is a film but this is a painting of something that happened in 1968 which changed history. Because of that walk-out, Mexican-American students are given a voice. The teacher participated in his own way in the ed ucation reform his students want granted. Those who watched this movie for the first time were unaware of the Chicano movement of 1968. They were surprised to find out that there was a time Universities kept Chicanos out. Teachers sacrifice their efforts and their time in order to concretize the goals they want for their students.Education reform may not be achieved with just one snap of a finger but that does not mean that teachers should stop severe there and then. For this very reason of reform, teachers and students are more motivated to strive toward success. Education reform is a right that must be made the close to out of. It could be better opportunities for the teachers as well as the students. Once the school is presented an option to have an education, then they must seize it. It may be puzzling at first but the absence of education reform can have dire effects on the effective teaching in schools.Research shows that successful schools have reformed their education in r elation to the demands of todays information age. By viewing teaching as the of import activity of organizations, more and more educational bodies are encouraging schools to take part of education reform. By proposing the norms, conducts, standards and practices which will serve as the central conversation and observation of teaching, activities and practices that are related to providing a curriculum and materials needed by the school, students and teachers will be open to the recognition of teachers involvement in the whole educational reform process.

Cadbury: Porters Five Forces, and PESTEL Analysis

Cadbury Porters Five Forces, and PESTEL AnalysisIn come in to recommend what strategy is needed for a friendship to notice is essential to analyze the competitive environment where they operate. When analyzing the competitive environment of Cadbury, the factors that should be considered atomic number 18 both factors from the confectionery application and factors from the macro environment, which would start an emergence on the successful operation of the confederacy. I adopt chosen Porters Five Forces, and PESTEL analysis.1.1 Porters Five ForcesBargaining power of buyers Porter (2008) stated that where the product is a small dissever of buyers costs or expenditures, buyers ar usually less price sensitive.Cadbury has to categories of buyers namely, consumers or retailer.Retail buyers be the group that has the most effect for Cadbury and other confectionery modernisers. They ar mainly magnanimous retailers like i.e. Tesco, Asda in UK. thither is competition for shelf spa ce and threat of backward integration especially with brand precisely products. That is a very important group, which is directly correlated with the tax revenue. It could have gamey effect.Bargaining power of suppliers Group that has big impact on the final product, in scathe of quality and price. The main commodities wasting diseased by Cadbury argon hot chocolate, milk, and sugar. Any change in the price of those commodities allowing affect directly the price of the product and the profitability. confectionery manufacturers are facing increasing cost pressures as Cocoa prices hit their highest levels for 23 years due to fall in Cocoa ware (BBC, 2008). Cadbury is utilize commodity derivative contracts for umber and sugar. Cadbury Cocoa partnership is open up to insure sustainable supply of Cocoa by supporting Cocoa farmers in Ghana, India, Indonesia and Caribbean (Cadbury, 2008). some other way perhaps to strengthen their berth would be a backward integration, where they would acquire one or more of their suppliers to ensure that they have control all over the commodity price (Johnson et al, 2008). Moderate effect.Rivalry among existing competitors Confectionary is an industry with stiff competition amongst its players. There are five major players competing globally in confectionery industry Nestle, mar Wrigley, Cadbury, Ferrero Rocher and Hershey with about 42% share of global securities industry (Cadbury, 2008). All of the major players in the industry have very sound brands worldwide. There is a high growth rate of 5% in the developed countries, and about 10% in the emerging markets, which makes the confectionery industry very attractive. Because of the high competition, there is possibility of competition of prices, which pass on cause the company to operate with lower margins. High effect.Threat of substitute products military man Health Organization (WHO) (2008) estimates that in 2005 at least 400 million adults worldwide were obes e and forecasted that this figure in 2015 will be 700 million. USA, UK, and Germany are among the countries with largest number of people that are obese, overweight, and have cardiovascular health problems on the other hand those countries are the largest confectionery markets in the world. Consumers are becoming more and more aware of healthy eating, so the snacking habits are changing. There are numbers of substitutes emerging on the market, products like cereal bars and fruit bars are threat for the java industry, as health conscious parents especially, would opt for the healthier option. Chocolatiers try to add value to their chocolate, with vitamins or antioxidants or by removing fat and sugar from the confection (Scully, C., 2006). Moreover consumers demand firms to avoid e-numbers or synthetic colours and require instead organic substances In this regard many people think of the possible health benefits from the chocolate they eat. Consequently a further development will st art. Special groups like diabetics or allergy sufferers will rise in importance. (Vreeland, C., 2007). The other main means in the confection industry is the tendency to pure black and high quality chocolate. Thus, the sweet is turning into a way in which people transmit their selves. Candy Industry (2006) clarifies this with the head dividing telegraph wire of one of their reports Dark and Decadent vs. Milk and Mainstream. The statement is underpinned by several data. In 2006 the sales of dark chocolate sum up by 40%, every third chocolate released was a dark chocolate and the premium market was foretold to grow over 20% in the close periods. The bitter chocolate has the benefit of a low sugar rate and a lot of antioxidants that makes it much more healthy then normal sweets. A dark chocolate is a bit of luxury at a reasonable price, perhaps thats a reason why this kind of sweet is so popular. The last point which supports the trend is that premium chocolate is for a multilater al use, for instance as a gift or decoration, optimally suitable (Rehan, 2007). The effect is high.Threat of a new entry as the confectionery market is dominated by well established brands, as sated while analyzing the rivals, and they are Nestle, Mars Wrigley, Cadbury, Ferrero Rocher and Hershey, with 42% of the market (Cadbury, 2008) for a new company is very difficult to enter the market, unless they come up with new beguileing product, something to go in line with the healthy lifestyle perhaps, as discussed above. However, it will be difficult to include a considerable market share, as they would be competing against very well established companies, with also established brand names, distribution channels and high capital investment. Other barriers for new entrants are economies of scale and experience of major operators in production and distribution (Johnson, et al 2008). On the other hand those barriers might not be effective for a company that is diversifying, like Nestl e, they used their strong power of the confectionery market to enter the ice cream market (Reader, 2006). The effect on Cadbury is low.1.2 PESTEL AnalysisPolitical Only 10 countries in the world produce more than 90% of the worlds cocoa (Worlds Coco Foundation, 2007). The major problem in those countries is poverty. The main concern for the companies trading with those countries is political stability, as instability can have effect on the price, and the supply.Economic Recent fall in the value of the pound, is one economic factor that affects all the companies that operate in UK, and have duty connections with other countries. Cadbury operates in more than 60 countries in the world. Cadbury suppliers of their main commodity cocoa are not British, as sketch above. The depreciation of the pound makes the prices of cocoa more expensive even though Cadbury had incoming contracts to hedge against situations like that it will still affect the operation in grander run, when new futur e contracts need to be made.On the other hand interest rates are very low in England at the moment. The base rate is only 0.5% (Bank of England, 2010). Companies can benefit with lower interest borrowing.Social equitable trade with cocoa farmers is a social factor, as affects how the company is perceived by the consumers. Fair trade means that a company buys a tone of cocoa at the market price and pays a social premium for the commodity. This benefits the planter because of a steady income stream, which is more independent from the volatility of the market price. Furthermore a company with a fair trade label pays a percentage of the sell price to the centralized fair trade nerve. Corporations try to redeem these disadvantages through a higher(prenominal) quality of cocoa beans (Westen, 2006). Furthermore an enterprise could gain a competitive advantage because of their social commitment. The customer can see a fair trade certification on the package and this is becoming more and more important. As outlined above Cadbury operates in more than 60 countries in the world. When a company operates in more than one country potential problems are conflicts between different cultural groups, language difficulties, stereotyping, and mutual misunderstanding (Greenhause, et al, 2010).Technological Availability of high-tech machinery enables the company to produce high quality product at lower prices, which helps the company to gain competitive advantage. Another point is the widespread of the internet and satellite television, makes it easier to advertise to bigger audience of potential consumers.Environmental The cocoa plant needs a stable climate. But the ideal conditions inAfrica and South America are in danger because of global warming. The weather will beunpredictable and natural disasters are possible. Consequently the plants get hurt and the productivity decreases. Moreover disease destroys over 20% of the cacao beans that should be use for chocolate production e very year (Ogodo, 2006).Therefore companies should search ways to secure a steady flow of cocoa in the required amount and quality. Cooperation with the World Cocoa Foundation could be a solution. Confectioners like Ferrero, Lindt, Thorntons and Nestle realise this potential and try to improve future expectations (World Cocoa Foundation, 2007)Legal Affecting the industry are two new legislations that came into force in 2003 in UK. Regulations concerning contaminants in food and organic products force firms to obey and perhaps change their own practices (Baxter, 2006).The company had a very strong financial position with sales revenue growth of 14.6% compared with the previous year, which was due to add-on in price, rather than increase in volume of sales, (Bonfield, 2009). Increasing price with no increase in the quality results in higher margins, however it is a very risky strategy to derive as the consumers might not agree with it, the company can lose market share (Johnson, et a l 2008). The profit margins have increased from 5.41% in 2007 to 7.43% in 2008, and are higher than the average which stands at 6.42%. That is an indicator of successful cuts in cost. Main reason for that is cutting the number of employees, in 2007 the number of employees was 50,465, and in 2008 was about 4000 less down to 46,517. ROCE was nearly doubled in 2008 rising from 3.78% to 7.29%, and was much higher than the average ROCE for the industry, which was 5.53%. This increase in part can be from divestment of Americas Beverages in 2008 during 2008 that had lower ROCE than other companies in the group. According to Cadburys annual report (2008) In July 2008 Company issued new 350m sterling bond with a coupon of 7.25%and underlying interest rate for Cadbury in 2008 was 6.5%. This means that Cadbury is not producing ROCE much more than its current cost of capital. On the other hand Nestles ROCE is an impressive 21.5% that indicates that the operating costs in UK are much higher, li ke wages, rent, administrative expenses etc.Current ratio which indicates the companys liquidity is 0.86% for 2008 for Cadbury, which is an improvement from previous year when it was 0.58%. That indicates that their liability has diminish during 2008. Compared to the competitors is obvious that they are not as liquid as Nestle, with current ratio of 1%, however their performance for 2008 compared with the industry average which is 0.72% indicates that they are doing better than the majority.Gering Ratio has decreased from 123.69% to 89.66% in 2008 mostly because of the demerger with the Americas Beverages which was financed by debt. At 2008 their gearing was lower than the average that was 106.6. That is an indicator that if the company needs to borrow, it will not be difficult to kick downstairs a lender, as they are outperforming the average.Return on shareholders funds is 11.36% nearly doubled compared to year before when it was 6.10%. Nestles return is again much higher at 14. 76%. However Cadburys Return on Shareholders funds is again better than the average for the industry which seats at 8.73%. (Weetman, 2006) (Nestle, 2008) (Fame, 2009)(Cadbury, 2009)CORPORATE STRATEGY CURRENTLY BEING PERSUED view into action is the name of the strategy pursued by Cadbury. The main outcome of the strategy is to achieve mid teen margins by 2011, alongside with 4-6% organic revenue growth, and improved return on capital employed. If all of that is achieved Cadbury PLC is going to be in an excellent position financially and marketwise, and would deliver outstanding return for their shareholders and croak the largest confectionery company in the world. Cadburys priorities stated in the strategy were growth, efficiency, and capability (Cadbury, 2009).In order to achieve the priorities cost reduction was very important, which resulted in increase in profit by 2.02% the de-merger of US Beverage happened in May 2008, as it was difficult for a British company to compete again st American giants such(prenominal) as Coca Cola and Pepsi Co (Market Watch, 2008). And because it was an unrelated diversification from Cadburys main focus on chocolate, gum, and candy. Originally Cadbury wanted to sell the tune, as Colley et al. (2002) suggests that a company may not have the time or resources to focus on particular division. Selling the units that lack long term prospects would bring in immediate payment that can be used in what would be considered more advantageous ways. However a lack of interest from cash shy investors forced it to dampen the business instead. Instead of adding value to the Parent Company, if that given unit adds in management costs, adds to bureaucratic complexity and obscure financial performance, it is not feasible to pertain with their operation (Johnson et al, 2008). The recent acquisition of Adam business is of immense benefit to Cadbury having gain number two position in gum business. They are focused in Integrating these recent ac quisitions for sustainable growth. In order to follow through strategy successfully there should be match between strategy and organisational structure. Roquebert et al. (1996) turn over that in essence the structure of the organisation and its fit to environment determines the relative degree of profitability. Alfred Chandler (1962) concluded that structure follows strategy. New group structure of seven business units instead of four was introduced and de-layering organization for faster decision making and reduction in administrative cost. Strategic business unit is a part of an organization for which there is a distinct external market for rights or services that is different from another strategic business unit SBU (Johnson et al, 2008). The definition for SBU by CIMA, (2006) adds that SBU has a monumental degree of autonomy, typically being responsible for developing and marketing their own product. In the case of Cadbury there is no evidence that shows these business units will have any autonomy in developing their own markets and products.Alongside what I have mentioned several other activities had been carried out in order to implement the strategy, such as the reconfiguration of production in Australia and New Zealand to reduce complexity of production, ant the closure of the nonperforming plants i.e. Barcelona and Turkey Gum plants and Somerdale Chocolate plant (Cadbury, 2009).Cadbury is a large company that only concentrates in one industry. In a study carried out by Schmalensee in 1985 was found that the industry effect is very significant and accounts for at least 75% of the variance of industry rates of return on as focalizes, which is directly correlated with the profit of the firm. He also found that market share effects exist it share has positive relation with profitability but its effect is negligible and industry and market share affects are negatively correlated. Within the industry this is competitive advantage that accounts for profit ability of company. Cadbury at the moment does not have competitive advantage over its rivals. Profit target set for 2013 that is operating margin of 16%-18% (11.9%for 2008) shows that understanding this fact managers are trying to gain competitive advantage over other global players by concentrate on performance and increasing profit (Hill and Jones, 2007).RECOMMENDATIONBased on the findings regarding the competitive environment where the company operates, and on Cadburys financial performance and current strategy, l can give recommendations for a strategy to be followed, supported by a Balanced Scored Card provided in Appendix 1. The main goal as it was outlined in the existing strategy is Increase in Shareholders Value. For the goal to be achieved every department in the Company should be involved. I will explain the implementation of the strategy starting from implementation in the process of learning and growth, than the implementation across the internal processes, followed b y what would the strategy mean to the customers, close with how will the strategy affect the financial perspective. In order for a company to be successful the most important asset are the employees. real important part of any strategy is how happy the employees are? Are they driving the business towards the goal set by the management? In order to achieve the points made is very important that the team fully understands the strategy and the underlying assumptions. The employees should work as a team with a successful confabulation between them, which contributes to faster decision making. For best results Cadbury should employ and retain high performers, for example high performing managers, or specialists in the field of RD. Once those employees are on board is very important to retain them, by appropriate pay, safe conditions, training and development to achieve their full potential. After the Kraft take over, and numerous job cuts, the team morale is low (BBC, March 2010), and it is very important that they get the support needed, and understand the big picture.Another crucial subject of successes is investing in RD. As outlined by the analysis using the Porter Five Forces, there is a threat of substitutes, to develop products in line with the changing consumer habits (WHO, 2008) healthier variety of snacks should be introduced. Consumers are becoming more health concern, and are happy to pay higher price for a good quality, example of that is Innocent, focused on healthy food and drink, 100% smoothies, packed fruits and vegetables, which in the nine years they exist has grown from just a trinity employees to 268, and is one of the fastest growing companies with revenue of over 120 million pounds (Innocent, 2009). As explained by Ansoffs Matrix possible growth opportunities are found in this particular case by introducing new products in already existing markets (Richardson, et al, 2007). I think that Cadbury PLC should be one step ahead and introduce connatural products as well. However, introducing new products is very costly and it will relate in lower growth prospects. There are two factors that the power of substitutes depends on recounting Price/Performance and The extent of switching costs (CIMA, 2007). By using Porters Five Force was found that the competition in the confectionery industry is wild in order for Cadbury to maintain their market share, or better to enlarge it, constant improvements of the products should be maintained. Black and Green line should be developed further, as the demand for dark chocolate is growing (Rehan, 2007). As Porter (1980) says the goal of a competitive strategy for a company is to find a position in its industry where these competitive forces, will do it the most good or the least harm The Cadburys brand is large and global. Kraft had done a lot of acquisitions in the past where the brand has been kept intact like Jacobs Coffee in Germany. The company should continue that with the Cadb ury Brand, as that is key to success. In the long run that will result in improved sales revenues, and better profit margins. In the Balanced Score Card I have outlined that Cadbury should be environmentally friendly. Ogogdo, (2006) had pointed that there is a threat to the cocoa trees in the long run, by the global warming. Cadbury should do their part and be involved in projects helping the environment, like using fair trade, or following their competitors examples. Nestle USA is helping to safeguard the environment through pollution prevention and control, sinew conservation and recycling/solid waste management practices (Nestle Global, 2010).Entering new markets is a way of driving the business forward. By acquiring Cadbury, Kraft had positioned themselves on the Indian market where Cadbury has a very strong position, on the other hand Kraft can help Cadbury to penetrate the Chinese market, where they have a solid position, and use their distribution channels (Riches, 2010). Bei ng global as refered to in the PESTEL analysis comes with its negative sides. To overcome that Cadbury should work towards minimizing conflicts and have procedures in note to supplement the strategy.Even though the current liabilities had decreased from the year before, there are still high. Restructuring the debt to a lower interest loan, would result in full-blooded savings. The interest debt on the existing debt is 6.5% (Cadbury, 2009).As outlined from the financial analysis, the performance had been stronger year after year, where almost all of the ratios had improved. If all the recommendations outlined above are followed the financial performance can only get stronger. When all standards are met for quality and the product meet and exceed customer expectations, there are possibilities for higher margins and increase in profit. On the other hand when the profits increase after interest and tax, the shareholders return would increase as well, which makes the final goal achieve d increase in shareholder value.Market Watch Drinks Apr2008, Vol. 7 Issue 4, p14-14, 1pPorter, M. Multinational Company Bmw Economic EssayBMW is the multinational company that I choose for the assignment. BMW is a company that operating in more than than 1 region. They atomic number 18 not only operating in their home country (Germany) but they too operate in many countries standardised Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and etc. Beside that BMW as thoroughly have manufacture in country like UK, USA, Mexico, South Africa and etc. So BMW is proving as a multinational company. BMW Group is peerless of the worlds largest bountifulness gondola chance onrs and BMW is also the p bent of the company of BMW MINI and Rolls-Royce car brands, and, formerly, Rover. BMW headquarters in Munich, Germany. The company slogans in English are The Ultimate Driving utensil and Sheer Driving Pleasure. BMW was founded by Karl Friedrich Rapp in October 1913. Automobiles, motorcycles and financial services are three segments that operate by BMW and they manufactured the send-off passenger car di scharge by hydrogen.BMW manufacturing is plant in Germany, Austria, UK, USA, Mexico, South Africa, Egypt, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and also Vietnam. Which are corporate and brand development entrust be clear by the director of corporate planning this is focus on the vital for brand management, corporate planning, and strategic implementation BMW. Second, purchasing and supplier network that headed by Dr.Herbert.Diess. The purpose is to wince the material cost and expenses factor. These are few of the new management strategy that BMW Compan y is using to operate the company. 15Sentence of book of facts coquette in general are stand for book of facts crunch make it almost impossible to the lender like bank and investor to borrow the bullion be face they become very chary of lending the money to the corporation. They scared of bankruptcies and defaults, which they drive up the price of debt products for borrowers which result in higher rates. The consequence is drag on of recession, which the shrinking of the credit supply departs happens as a result. 2Credit crunch overall background is starting with the lender like bank are wretched loss because of their previous lending loans, and this make them normally unable and averse to lend the money again to the borrowers. This happen when the borrower in arrears and the properties underlying a defaulted loan and drop in the value. As in this case the borrowers default, the bank smoke only foreclose on hypothecate and trying to sell this attribute to compensate the funds they loaned out. Thereby, if the pricing of the house is decreasing, the bank is considered left selling at the cost. The banker capital position is reducing when they suffer losses which are reduce the amount that they are able to lend out. The lending institutions are requiring keeping down the miniskirtmum levels of capital. 3The reasons that cause to the credit crunch are root speculation. Many people go to obtain additional loans with very thriving terms for instance no initial down payment because it is too easy to gain the credit from the banks so that all of the peoples and investors think that the price will going to increase also. The rapidity increase in property value make investors to jump into the investment with low and no fundamentals. This situation will make the investors to feel that they are missing out and left behind, in case as many investors going to heap up it will cause increasely unsustainable to the price of property. Next is pretermit of the regulat ory oversight, the distrustful of loans are make by mortgage brokers and bankers, the underwriters who working in the bank are determine whether the ability of the borrowers is there for them to repay the loans and turn a blind eye to what is going on so that the increasing of the profit can see by the loans that they have written. In additional, there are others reasons like Ad retributiveable-rate mortgages (ARMs) and subprime loans, the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, Historically low have-to doe with rates, and as well as politics which happen because many of the politicians going to say that the higher of the rate of the home ownership for Americans is better, but what would happen to the saving from the perspective of those that cant afford their homes when an inevitable slowdown occurred.4The occurring of the credit crunch will actually affect the economy of a country and company in few ways. First, the banker will actually tighten up the credit for all types of loans and become more caution to lending the loans. So that this directly affects the small businesses peoples that who are look on the loans and the credit to fund their day to day operation and become illiquid. Next, unemployment rides is one of the ways that will affect a company and country where the businesses are unable to pay for all the immediate bills and so that they also facing the enigma that they cannot pay for the employees salary and so that caused the situation like unemployment increasing in nationwide. The bankers and the brokerage firms are hit by this credit crunch. Apart of that a spiraling domino effect occurs, above these two economies effects of the economies crisis can make the economy of a country going down and than affect the whole country economy and if the economy of a country continues to going downward, it will lead to the difficult to stop the cycle. 5On year 2008, America was affected by the serious economy crisis, and their economy is actually hit actua lly hard by this economy crisis. We can see through and through the secondary data that done by research show that BMW also hit by 2008 economy crisis. According to (Chris Reiter 2010) BMW and Mercedes this two world largest luxury car makers was only sold a combine 31,000 fewer vehicles drop dead month because of the occurring of economy crisis and cause credit crunch that discourage the power purchasing of consumers. The percentage of sales are also falling down 8.3% to 113.005 cars and sport- utility vehicles from 123,300 vehicles a year antecedent by BMW Company whose are also owns the Mini and Rolls-Royce auto brands. Next, Auto sales in US BMW as a biggest food commercialize also falloff 32 percent in October of 2008 to the lowest monthly total since January 1991. They look back to their 2008 profile target on November BMW plans to cut production by 65,000 cars and SUVs correspond to (Chris Reiter 2010).Chris Reiter (2010) states that BMW is involved in the extremely cha ngeling market and the vehicles sales are decreasing for the whole year because of this. As what Ian Robertson who are the Munich-based car manufacturers sales chief tell in a statement today, reiterating a forecast released Nov. 4. The retail gains made in our growth markets were unable to fully offset declines in Western Europe, lacquer and the U.S. Chris Reiter (2010) also states that BMW posted 12% drop in Western Europe, 5% drop in US and the worst is Japan drop 34%. Furthermore, David Gow (2010) states that credit crunch put brakes on BMW 2008 also when US economy goes down turn and BMW reported that a step fall down in first quarter earnings. The son company of BMW Mini and Rolls Royce said that the pre-tax profits spilled 25% to (505m), dragged down by increased risk supplyings, tighter credit and the strong euro.According to (S. wall, S. Minocha, B. Rees, 2010)case study 4.2 BMW after Rover, show Rover in Britain worsened and hopeless in early of March 2010 due to the s trong pound damaging the exports of Rover. in conclusion Rover sells to Alchemy. This happened and uproar Britain press and politicians because scaring big number of unemployment in Rover and few supplier are located around the region. Alchemy withdrew from bidding offset and sell to Phoenix consortium for 10. Previous 6 years BMW spent total 34billion to save Rover but posted big losses. The disposal aggravated a political storm in Britain, and BMW bosses were aboutone parliamentary before this. Britain government furious, Milberg (who took over CEO of BMW in 1999) retorted government slow to get the signals he sent in a phone call before the situation worsened. This criticism infuriated the government again. This shows that government and political mess will also cause a problem to a company. Apart from that, the case study also stated that the decreasing and increasing of a currency will also give a huge impact to a company. The pounds became stronger and then give a direct e ffect to the company and destroy their exports businesses are one of the problem that we can see from the case and this may indirectly lead to the occur of credit crunch as well. 14David Gow (2010) states BMW a 5.6% rise across its three brands to a record 351,787 despite a 9.1% drop in their biggest market, US. The international financial crisis deteriorates the climate for consumer spending became gloomier, it said, signalizeing to March 2008 as the peak of the crisis. Before this BMW alleviate expect to beat the last year sales record to 1.5m but the USs economy getting worst and lead to the dropping of the profits. The world largest luxury carmaker BMW have became the victims of the credit crunch on 2008. It took a 236 million euro (S$500 million) charge because of falling prices and rising bad debt in the United States. The move is the provision made of the divinable losses in business area. This move could cause to increased nervousness about the impact of the financial crisi s on the economy in Europe, make up as most companies report robust first-quarter results. This is what reported by The Financial Times. The Click here to find out moreDaimler chief executive Dieter Zetsche says that in 2008 may that month the general car sales of US is fall down this year but the growth in emerging in market can expiation it. 6In addition, research shows that 2008 BMW sons company MINI has declared that axes 800 redundancies in Cowley, Oxford hire prompting protests from unions over a perceived lack of sensitivity towards the rights of agency workers. The redundancy pay will not received by many of the staffs that who have been made the contract through the agency Manpower. At the same time the sales of the luxury cars are drop very ruggedness, so because of that supermini segment has experienced a less severe downturn driven by a consumer shift to smaller and more economical vehicles. Seen from secondary data, clearly we can see the Society of Motor Manufacturer s and Traders (SMMT) January figure, the impulsion towards the smallest segment the mini or city car segment is growing stronger as the recession deepens, with new car registrations up 40.8% on 2008 figures. At British, Mini was one of the last of the car manufacturers that are continue working through these suffering times, but they are not produce any cars on that relevant week because of to the crucial fall in global demand. Around 20% of these 800 axes redundancies are going to tha manufacture like Jaguar, Nissan and etc. 7BMW became the first victim of the credit crunch on 24 of April, that who are the world largest luxury carmaker. BMW took a 236m ($369m) charge because of falling prices and rising bad debt in the US are showing through the research. But however the pre-tax level is slightly increased compare with last year. 8The strategy that BMW use to overcome credit crunch are first that are one of the reason why BMW and Mercedes are teaming up. There are fewer options f or OEM (original equipment makers), consolidations of period have gone through by automobile suppliers and this trend is expected to speedup for the next few years. It becomes difficult for the investment capital because credit crunch makes suppliers harder to fund their business. 9Many organizations are affected by the credit crunch in UK sedulousness and so BMW. But BMW consider one of the successful from them and six awards are goes to BMW and German manufacturer sales rise and new models bring in new customers. Although BMW also affected but they get the award for best small car with the MINI, best small premium car for the 1 Series and best large premium car for the 3 Series. In addition, The 5 Series took the gong for best executive car and the X5 won best SUV and BMW was presented with the Fleet News environmental award for the EfficientDynamics package. 10Next, BMW also trying to protect himself from credit crunch by assistanceing some of the suppliers. The stronger suppli ers are encouraging by BMW to take over weaker supplier in this case and BMW will pay more for the parts, speedup the payment and as well as they will temporary pay higher price for the parts. 11 Apart from that, in UK, during credit crunch the governments are actually asking to help the car manufacture and government helping a litter bit where we just seem it banking sector. According to the research, on that time if the government is still not aware of this problem and the unemployment will become worst and the number of import export within UK and other country will be reduce and shown that UK government will loss 110 billion r blushue and UK 146.2 billion tax next couple of year if the government despise this case. 12However, in Malaysia it will still have at least a litter bit effects because of credit crunch but the god strategy need to be prepared to face the credit crunch. According to Briscoe, he believes that the luxury car like BMW needs to have a better positioned for it to growth in the industry when facing difficulty at the economic side. He also said that There would be an impact but we feel that the volume-based car segment would be more affected than the premium segment. According to him as well in Malaysia market in 2009, was to provide the right car at the right market at the right time. Extra key are they are now focusing on their credit crunch strategy are introduce more diesel powered cars. 13This are few strategy that BMW done or the place government done to solve the various problem during credit crunch. But actually they are pro and con for every strategy they used and pro and con as well for the helping from the government, it is just depend on each of us to criticize either each of this strategy are falls into pro or con. In my opinion, as the first point I listed above BMW are teaming up with Mercedes, to invest in the suppliers and the next point that BMW are encourage strong supplier to take over weaker suppliers. It is just a goo d decision I think because it is not a good decision if we just leave our cars part supplier to facing and suffering alone with the credit crunch without any assisting. In the tough time during credit crunch, if we are not helping each other among supplier even competitor we might just die together because of the wrong decision. We can actually helping each other according to our capability like what BMW and the comfort done.Next, the ethical issues are very vital for a company. According to (S. wall, S. Minocha, B. Rees, 2010), an organization mustiness make sure that every decision they make, have a advised ethical content. If it is an internal problem, it maybe about the labour working hours, or their wages problem. When come to the BMW do international business with other country, company must ensure they does not apply their own ethical norms to the foreign country but is conforms to the local customs, and ethical as well as morality decent when making any of the business d ecision and also during economy crisis. Although the company situation is worse and worried but any decision making by BMW will be ethical enough example during credit crunch any methods using to solve the credit crunch problem, it must be with ethical.

Reverend John Hale in The Crucible

rarefied John salubrious in The CrucibleReverend embrace, The teachThe Character, Reverend Hale, is introduced into The Crucible as a very religious be untruthfful and respected man. Swiftly organism pulled into the ever broadening chaos that ensued in Salem. As days passed Hale is transformed from the man who bequeath extract the witches to the man who will try to economize Proctors life. Hale being both a mentor for the village and for Proctor while the story progresses while in any case keeping the peace. Hale being a 40 year old Reverend of the church service and is told to have befriended in the witch hunting in another much larger town is seen extremely in salem. Reverend Hale is the classic wise man archetype, whose strong faith but lack of political savvy hinders his ability to save the people of Salem. The mentor archetype is profiled as His or her task is to foster the main character. (According to Literarydevives.net). Hale fits this perfectly, essay to prote ct John each along the way. Excellency, it is a natural lie to tell I beg you, stop straightway before another is condemned I may shut my conscience to it no more-Private vengeance is working through with(predicate) this testimony From the beginning this man has struck me true. Another prime drill was when he begged Danforth to not make him confess others on page 148 Excellency, it is enough he confess himself. Let him peculiarity it, let him sign it. Hales motivation to help and to share the love of God with others, Hales will to help others trumps greed as he is willing to help even accused witches. The archetype of the Mentor perfectly fits for Hale, residing with his will to help others and his s trong faith while also being undermined by his issues with the court. The Mentor archetype is based after someone who wants to help lead someone to their cause or is trying to help people in some way. attendace is it necessary? Essay -- essays research papers

Does it Matter how its Taught? Is Attendance Necessary? The first thing that I began to think about is my own individualized experience with this capitulum in the first day of class. The reason being is that I have been in college for now 4 years and I am severely behind in terms of a 4-year degree at this point. I have had my times to think about what I the likes of in terms of instruction style, but never had the full teacher to make me believe in the style. In this essay I hope to convince you (the reader) that it is mostly the way the student looks for flaws in the teaching style instead of embracing it. Also I will explain that in certain places across the unpolished that certain teaching styles are easier to students in certain environments. In my early years at school there are many variant teaching styles that I encountered. First being the large lecture hall, past the small freshman writing classes, the hands on theatre classes and the many other different style and s ize classes. The large lecture style classes were already over filled due to the universitys demand for these classes. The teacher would come in and serious sit down, take role and call on the same students who usually understood the material a little better that the rest of the class and then we would leave. Repetition I have learned is a nightmare to some students, this is no learning environment for most students, even in our class the larger percentage of students couldnt wait until time was up. Only a few got the time and effort of help from the professor, who normally didnt even answer our question stating that This is a lecture class format and if you cant figure it out I cant help you. Now this may non be true for some professors, and perhaps this professor just didnt have the time or knowledge but the question is how is it taught, and this is not the right way.The second style of teaching that I will point too is the smaller more than group-oriented classes where discus sion is more prevalent. Question and answer from the instructor is more common and group exercises help students understand the basis for argument. Argument is a small tool to help students take different sides to a topic is cardinal of the greatest teaching tools but has a few opponents however. Gerald Graff writes in the Yale University P... ...t colleges, they skate though classes without ever finding their true calling. Without these teachers drawing students into their classes then most of us wouldnt finish school, we as students have to have something to look forward to something too, in going to class. If its a good looking girl, the funny teacher, that jest at that sits next to you, whatever it is the most important thing is to listen to what the teacher has to say. These teachers even if their boring, take pride in what they do even if we dont like it.Some say that teaching is an art form, some may like the art it others dont. What we have to consider is that they way pr ofessors teach us isnt always the right way for the right people. Numerous studies have been conducted as to how teaching styles affects certain students, with this in mind how its taught is a air correlation to how we think. As we draw the line back to the beginning, the way its taught has everything to do with what I like to learn. If we as students get the opportunity to skip class, because some students like to learn on there own, than thats a choice we should be able to take.

Essay --

Deep in the south in the shed light on belief Maycomb County, Alabama, in the 1930s, To Kill a Mockingbird is straight forward and clear showing black and white. Blacks being accused of crimes by whites at this time had a little chance at being proved innocence. Atticus teaches the jury to look past race and to see the facts of the crime committed, showing them that judging by race is wrong.
