Bad Things For Teens Essay Sample
Bad Things For Teens Essay Sample'Bad Things For Teens' by the late Jerry Seinfeld was a hilarious and sad book that many people loved to read. However, it also had some very good points that I learned from while reading it. 'Bad Things For Teens' is an introspective memoir and it can be very enlightening and at the same time very uncomfortable for anyone to read.'Bad Things For Teens' focuses on the death of Jerry Seinfeld's father in his adolescence. Many say that the death of someone's father or brother or sister is hard on a teenager but what makes the Seinfeld's story so special is that it reminds us that the death of someone's father can be just as hard as the death of a child. Especially, when the father died of a heart attack when the teenager was still a teenager. That is why 'Bad Things For Teens' is a book to read for parents and those close to them who need to be reminded of the pain and loss that come with loss. The book also focuses on the strange relationship Jerry Sein feld had with his father. Jerry was afraid of his father, because he looked so much like his father and so much like his mother. It is this fear of the dead father that triggers his love for him and his desire to always be close to him.One of the sad things about the book is that it ends with his mother moving out after Jerry Seinfeld left home. The anger that Jerry felt over his mother leaving him as well as the grief felt over her leaving played a big role in how he wrote the last part of the book. It also goes into detail on how it took him a long time to figure out how to forgive his mother. His feelings towards his mother were mixed. In a way, the book explores how children learn from their mothers and how he learned to forgive his mother for leaving his father and vice versa. The point that Jerry Seinfeld makes is that we are all born with a gift and that it doesn't matter if you were the son of a mother who could never love you or a father who would leave you at the first sigh t of danger, if you were born with a gift then it doesn't matter who your mother was or who your father was.'Bad Things For Teens' is a great memoir for teenagers but it also has some serious criticism towards the state of today's teenagers. A lot of teenagers are being raised by their parents and with the help of their parents they are becoming disillusioned with their lives. We have a generation of children who are raised by their parents and they feel no need to try to find their own ways of life and their own happiness. In the end, I found myself really interested in the book for what Jerry Seinfeld wrote about the difficulty of being a teenager. He says that a teenager needs to be passionate and creative because that is what gives them their identity and uniqueness. While he doesn't recommend the suicide of teenagers in order to feel these things, he does say that those who become self-destructive tend to feel the most passionate and unique once they grow up.The main question th at I had about the book was: is it true? What makes a good teenager and what makes a bad one? 'Bad Things For Teens' may not be the right book for everyone but for many it is the one thing that they should read in order to get some perspective.
